President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to cut down the number of staffers at the presidency, emphasizing the need for a lean and efficient administration.
Delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term on Thursday, February 27, he highlighted the urgency of addressing excessive government spending.
“The size of the presidential staff has grown unsustainably, leading to high administrative costs. My government will take decisive steps to streamline the presidency, ensuring efficiency and accountability,” Mahama stated before Parliament.
He assured that the reduction would not compromise governance but rather improve productivity.
“A smaller, highly competent team is key to driving our development agenda. We must cut bureaucracy and focus on delivering tangible results that benefit Ghanaians,” he noted.
Mahama’s decision aligns with his broader strategy to curb wasteful expenditure and redirect resources toward economic recovery.
