President John Dramani Mahama has promoted key officers within the Ghana Armed Forces, effective March 24, 2025, on the advice of the Armed Forces Council.
The appointments, made ahead of the transition of the outgoing administration, include Major General William Agyapong as Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing as Chief of Naval Staff, Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong as Chief of Air Staff, and Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai as Chief of Staff.
A statement signed by Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the appointments were made in consultation with the Council of State. President Mahama extended his best wishes to the new chiefs, urging them to serve with diligence and patriotism in safeguarding the country.
