John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged significant infrastructure improvements for the Afram Plains area as part of his vision for the region.
During a visit to the two Kwahu Afram Plains constituencies, Mahama assured a large crowd of enthusiastic youth, chiefs, and residents that his administration would prioritize the construction of critical roads leading into the area.
He also reaffirmed plans to build a bridge over the Afram River, a long-awaited project that would improve accessibility.
Mr. Mahama announced that the broken-down pontoon linking Afram Plains North to Kpando in the Volta Region, which was originally commissioned by the NDC administration under President JEA Mills, would be replaced.
In addition to these transport projects, Mr. Mahama outlined a series of initiatives aimed at boosting the region’s agricultural sector. This includes the establishment of Farmer Services Centres, agro-processing factories, and other essential socio-economic infrastructure such as healthcare and education facilities.
Mr. Mahama’s visit highlighted his commitment to fostering development in the region, which he described as the food basket of the country. He emphasized that these initiatives would not only enhance the livelihoods of local residents but also promote long-term economic growth.
