The US embassy says the passage of the LGBTQ bill will affect Ghana’s international relations.
“If enacted, it will also hurt Ghana’s international reputation and Ghana’s economy,” the embassy said.
Commending individuals engaged in LGBTQ, the ambassador stated, “I am saddened because some of the smartest, most creative, most descent people I know are LGBTQ.”
In a post on X, she said, the bill diminishes the human rights of the individuals.
Also, she mentioned that the bill undermines the constitutional rights of individuals which include, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of the press.
Further, she states that the passage of the
bill will be bad for public order and public health.
