A heated exchange has unfolded on the social media platform X between Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, and Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South. The dispute centers on allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
Rev. Ntim Fordjour recently alleged the arrival of two suspicious flights at KIA, purportedly linked to illicit activities. In response, President John Dramani Mahama has directed security agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), to collaborate with Rev. Ntim Fordjour to investigate these claims. The President emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for drug trafficking in Ghana.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu criticized Rev. Ntim Fordjour’s assertions, accusing him of degrading parliamentary oversight by promoting unfounded allegations. In a post on X, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stated, “You are wasting everyone’s time by debasing Parliamentary oversight to peddle infantile lies! You have no proof, no basis and cannot show same in even a thousand years.”
Rev. Ntim Fordjour countered by suggesting that Mr. Kwakye Ofosu’s reactions indicate an emotional connection to the alleged crimes. He remarked, “When cocaine and money laundering activities are exposed and questioned, you expose your emotional connections to these transnational crimes, shield cocaine cartels and money launderers from prosecution and resort to insults!”
The exchange has attracted significant public attention, highlighting the contentious nature of the allegations and the political tensions they have sparked.
