The Ghana Police Service has invited Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a Kumasi-based radio and television presenter, to assist with investigations into the alleged publication of false news.
According to the Police, the invitation follows a video circulating on social media in which the presenter, while on Wontumi FM in Kumasi, allegedly urged the public to vote for presidential candidates on different dates during the upcoming December 2024 general elections.
Authorities have described the statement as false and potentially disruptive to public peace.
Oheneba Nana Asiedu is expected to report to the Ashanti Regional Police Command in Kumasi as part of the investigation.
The Police have cautioned media practitioners and the public to exercise responsibility and avoid spreading misinformation, particularly in the lead-up to the elections, to maintain peace and stability.
