Former President John Mahama, has given his word to reduce the size of government to not more than 60 when elected into office.
Addressing a gathering of journalists on Sunday, he outlined his vision for a leaner and more efficient government, emphasizing the need for “rightsizing” to ensure effective service delivery and responsible use of public resources.
The Accra meeting, provided a platform for Mr Mahama to discuss his plans for a new era of governance, with a focus on fighting corruption, streamlining public institutions and reducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
His comments hinge on the current size of the Nana Addo led administration with over 120 ministers which according to the former president is overburdening the state resources.
Mr Mahama further underscored the importance of a leaner, more agile government that could operate effectively and deliver results.
His plan for rightsizing involves a comprehensive review of government ministries, departments, and agencies, identifying areas where functions can be merged or streamlined.
