The order of interim injunction granted on October 25, 2023, was an error, the High Court has said.

Justice Patrick Baayeh, the High Court judge who granted the injunction acknowledged this error “upon reading the affidavit filed by the Applicants and deposed to by the 1st Defendant/Applicant and upon hearing Ayikoi Otoo ESQ., Counsel for Defendants/Applicants.”

“In fairness to the parties, therefore, the Order of Interim Injunction granted on 25th October 2023 is hereby set aside. Any party desirous of proceeding may come notice to the other party for a proper evaluation of the evidence from both sides I make no order as to cost,” he stressed.

However, some seven persons have filed an application at the court claiming they have been sidelined by the family of the Ga Traditional Council in organizing the funeral ceremony.

In light of that, the final funeral rites of the Ga Manye will proceed as scheduled.

Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru III died in December 2022 and a book of condolences was signed and opened by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on June 19, 2023.

The final funeral rites of the late Ga Manye were slated from October 15 to 31 2023.

The Ga Traditional Council directed that all offices and shops in the Central Business District in the Greater Accra Region be closed for three days from the 26th to the 29th of October but after further considerations, the council revised its previous decision and said shops should closed only on Saturday for the final funeral rites of the late queen, Naa Dedei Omaedru III.
