The Sekondi High Court, led by His Lordship George K. Gyan-Kontoh, has adjourned an application from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) seeking to lift the injunction on its Amenfi Central parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, and dismiss her disqualification.
The hearing has been rescheduled for Monday, November 11, 2024.
The adjournment follows a plea from Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s lead counsel, Edudzie Tamakloe, who urged the court to expedite the substantive disqualification case to avoid any potential disenfranchisement of his client ahead of the December 7 parliamentary election.
In response, Justice Gyan-Kontoh agreed to prioritize the case while encouraging both parties to pursue an out-of-court settlement before the next hearing.
Supporters of Joana Gyan Cudjoe, who gathered at the court, expressed concern over the delay, emphasizing the urgency for a resolution to secure her place in the upcoming election.
