Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister of Roads and Highways, has urged Turkish investors to prioritize Ghana as a key investment destination.
Speaking at the 11th World Cooperation Industries (WCI) Forum, themed “Invest in Africa, Invest in the Future,” he underscored the country’s substantial potential for growth, particularly within the infrastructure sector.
Mr. Asenso-Boakye highlighted the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Project, a critical 957-kilometer highway that traverses five West African countries, noting that over 50% of it runs through Ghana. He described the project as a catalyst for economic growth, offering vast investment opportunities across manufacturing, tourism, technology, and logistics.
“The Abidjan-Lagos Highway is more than just a road- it’s a catalyst for economic growth across the ECOWAS region,” he stated, encouraging Turkish investors to engage with this transformative initiative for substantial returns and enhanced regional integration.
The Minister also advocated for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) as a vital investment avenue, referencing Ghana’s pioneering PPP in expanding the Accra-Tema Motorway as evidence of the nation’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure.
During his participation in the International Road Federation (IRF) World Congress 2024, Mr. Asenso-Boakye addressed a high-level ministerial meeting, focusing on innovative solutions for challenges in the roads and transportation sectors. He underscored Ghana’s significant strides in road infrastructure development, which have improved connectivity, reduced travel times, and enhanced access to essential services.
Mr. Asenso-Boakye’s call for Turkish investment aligns with Ghana’s broader strategy to leverage international partnerships for sustainable development in infrastructure.
