Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, says the government invested about 10 billion Ghana Cedis in the road sector since January 2024.
He says this is to improve transport and boost economic growth.
Delivering the Mid-Year Budget Review on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, the Finance Minister confirmed that the government has purchased equipment to supplement local authorities’ efforts to improve community roads across the country.
“Mr Speaker, we have invested about 10 billion Ghana Cedis in the road sector since January 2024 to improve transport and boost growth. I can also report that the Government has procured equipment to supplement our local authorities’ efforts to improve community roads across the country,” he remarked.
Adding that, works on the Ofankor-Nsawam Road, Keta Water Supply, Obetsebi Lamptey and Flower Pot Interchanges, the three (3) by-passes on the Kumasi-Accra Highway, and the Tema Mpakadan Railway Line are progressing speedily.
He further stated, the government has finished two important airport projects – the Prempeh II International Airport in Kumasi and the Tamale International Airport, popularly known as the Yakubu Tali Airport.
