Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has rejected claims by the Minority that GH₵78 million was allocated solely to his office, clarifying that the funds are designated for three longstanding state agencies under his supervision.

The Minority, on Thursday, March 13, criticized the budgetary allocation for government communication, led by Kwakye Ofosu and deputized by Shamima Muslim, questioning the justification for such an amount.

Tano North MP Gideon Boako, speaking to journalists, expressed concern that the allocation covered activities such as social media monitoring and responses, suggesting that the expenditure was excessive.

However, Kwakye Ofosu, in an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, refuted the claim, stating that the amount was not meant for his personal office.

“My office has not been allocated GH₵78 million. The funds are for three agencies under my ministry-GBC, the Information Services Department (ISD), and the Ghana News Agency (GNA),” he clarified.

He further emphasized that these institutions have a long-standing history of public service, with ISD, GBC, and GNA operating for over eight decades.

“The GH₵78 million covers their operations, including goods and services as well as capital expenditure. It is not an allocation to my office,” Kwakye Ofosu stressed.
