The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed deep regret to Ghanaians following the early exit of the Black Stars from the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The team’s elimination was marked by a loss to Cape Verde and draws with Egypt and Mozambique.
In a statement on Tuesday, 30th January, 2024, the GFA acknowledged the sub-par performance, took responsibility, and apologized to the nation, pledging their commitment to restoring pride and success.
According to the association, Head coach Chris Hughton has been dismissed, and a new coach is being sought by a committee led by Vice President Mark Addo.
Also, the GFA stated that, a comprehensive review of the national team’s prospects is underway to enhance strategies, training, compensation, and overall structure.
“We value the unwavering support of our stakeholders, and we commit to working tirelessly with you to ensure a stronger and more competitive team. Your loyalty and passion are the driving force behind our efforts to rebuild and elevate the standard of Ghanaian football,” the GFA pledged.
