A number of Ghanaians gathered on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Forecourt of the State House to bid farewell to the Church of Pentecost’s fourth chairman, the late Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy.

Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy served the church in Ghana for a decade, from 1998 to 2008.

Described as a celebrated pastor with a remarkable history, Apostle Dr. Ntumy’s legacy was honoured as mourners paid their respects.

During his ministry, he faced adversity, including being held hostage during the First Liberian Civil War and surviving multiple attempts on his life, which left him paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.

The late pastor, known for his instrumental role in the growth of the Pentecost Church in Ghana, returned from his last duty post in Germany and passed away 8 days later in his home in Accra, on December 27th 2023, following a prolonged illness.

Many bid him farewell at the funeral including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former President John Mahama, and Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, along with other government officials.

Renowned members of the clergy also paid their respects, including Archbishop Charles Agyin Asare, Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, and Rev. Prof. Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, among others.
His remains were later airlifted by a Ghana Airforce helicopter to his village, Osramani in the Oti region. After a final journey through the principal street of the village to his family home, he was entombed at a private ceremony.
