The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed that the ballot order for the 2024 presidential election will remain unchanged, following the recent disqualification of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) candidate Philip Appiah Kubi.
EC Chairperson Jean Mensa made the announcement during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, November 12.
The EC’s decision comes as part of its final preparations for the December polls, with Mensa assuring party representatives that the removal of the GFP candidate would not disrupt the ballot structure.
She noted that the printing of presidential ballots is already 90 percent complete, underscoring the Commission’s commitment to meeting all deadlines and ensuring readiness for election day.
“This morning, we are here to inform you that the Commission’s decision is to maintain the presidential ballot as it is,” Mensa stated, adding, “With party representatives monitoring the process at the printing houses, we are nearly finished with the presidential ballots.”
Philip Appiah Kubi’s candidacy followed the passing of Akua Donkor, the GFP’s initial nominee and founder, who died on October 28. By maintaining the current ballot order, the EC aims to avoid logistical challenges and ensure smooth election operations.
