The Electoral Commission (EC) has finalized its approval of 13 presidential candidates for Ghana’s 2024 general elections.
This decision follows a tthorough vetting process that required candidates to meet strict qualifications, including submitting relevant financial records and ensuring compliance with citizenship regulations.
Both representatives of the country’s leading political parties, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as well as candidates from smaller political groups and independent contenders, have been cleared to participate.
The EC highlighted that the evaluation process was conducted transparently and fairly, urging all contenders to adhere to electoral laws during their campaigns.
