The La District Court has ordered police prosecutors to submit a hospital report confirming the age of a final-year student from O’Reilly Senior High School, who is accused of fatally stabbing a classmate. The accused allegedly killed Edward Borketey Sackey after an argument over whose family was wealthier.
During proceedings on September 19, Chief Inspector Paul Osei Adjei informed the court that while the postmortem report is ready and the accused’s blood samples have been taken, the hospital report confirming the accused’s age will be available by Friday, September 20.
The prosecution’s request for an adjournment was denied by Magistrate Adwoa Benaso Asumadu-Sakyi, who emphasized the need for swift progress due to the public interest in the case.
The court noted that the age of the accused remains disputed, with conflicting reports suggesting he is either 18 or 24 years old.
The accused’s plea has not yet been taken, and the case is expected to resume tomorrow, Friday, September 20.
