The Kaneshie District Court has refused bail to Mark Forson, the man arrested in connection with the murder of Dr. Christopher Adu Boahen, a son of the late Ghanaian politician, Professor Albert Adu Boahen.
The Court’s decision, was based on the prayer by the Prosecution led by Dectective Inspector Isaac Boabeng, who, argued that the district court does not have jurisdiction over bail applications, in murder cases.
He also noted that investigations are ongoing and releasing the accused on bail, would interfere with the matter. Inspector Boabeng, therefore prayed against granting the accused bail, for these reasons.
According to the facts presented by Prosecution, the complainant, one Dr. Michael Segbefia a surgeon at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital, is a friend to the deceased, Christopher Adu Boahen, while the accused Mark Forson, is the househelp to the deceased.
The Prosecution said on March 17, 2024, the complainant went to visit his friend at his home. When he got to the house, he perceived an unsual smell, and proceeded to the deceased’s room and found him lying on his bed dead.
The complainant immediately proceeded to the East Legon Police station to lodge a complaint after which the Police went to the crime scene and saw the lifeless body of Dr. Christopher Adu Boahen, on his bed with a rope around his neck which suggested foul play.
The body of the deceased was later conveyed to the Police Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy. On March 19, the accused was arrested for his role in the murder of Dr. Adu Boahen. Prosecution said investigation is still ongoing. The court presided over by Nana Abena Owusu-Omenyo has adjourned the case to April 15,2024.
