Ghana Black Stars coach Otto Addo has ruled out stepping down despite the team’s failure to qualify for AFCON 2025, their first absence since 2004.
Speaking after a 2-1 loss to Niger in the final Group F match, Addo defended his commitment amid widespread criticism. “I’m not someone who resigns. If I had that mindset, I wouldn’t have become a player or coach,” he said.
Addo acknowledged recurring defensive issues, particularly with set pieces, as a key factor in the defeat. He also highlighted positive performances from debutants, urging fans and media to support the players instead of assigning blame.
“The players gave everything. Let’s focus on lifting them up,” he added.
Addressing broader concerns, Addo prayed for peaceful elections in Ghana and emphasized the need for unity.
Despite finishing last in their group with no wins, Addo remains focused on rebuilding the team.
