The Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) has launched the 35th edition of its Annual National Marketing Performance Awards, coinciding with the release of its new Ghana Regional Brand Index (Gh-RBI) publication.
This year’s theme, “Harnessing the Power of AI as a Transformative Tool for Marketers,” emphasizes the importance of leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive business growth.
Dr. Daniel Kasser Tee, National President of CIMG, highlighted that the awards aim to raise awareness about the critical role of marketing in business success.
He stressed the need for innovation, creativity, and excellence in marketing to protect consumer interests and elevate standards.
The Gh-RBI initiative underscores CIMG’s commitment to using research to promote regional brands, showcasing their diversity and potential. Dr. Kasser Tee urged regional brands to blend tradition with modernity and innovation to build resilient brands.
Nana Ama Poku, Deputy Managing Director of Corporate Resources at Consolidated Bank Ghana and Chair of the event, expressed hope that the Gh-RBI report would highlight Ghana’s diverse attractions and opportunities, promoting sustainable tourism and investment. She emphasized the importance of research in addressing societal challenges and fostering future growth.
Geoffrey Tamakloe, Director of Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, noted that the performance report would guide policy decisions and attract investment in the tourism and hospitality sectors. He added that the regional index would help investors identify promising areas for investment, promoting equitable growth across the country.
Theodore Osae, Chairman of the Awards Committee, announced the introduction of an online system for nominees to submit their entries for evaluation. He reiterated that the 2024 theme focuses on how organizations can adapt their strategies to optimize brand performance.
The awards encompass six broad categories: Business, CIMG Hall of Fame Media and Marketing Communications, Personalities, Product, and Not-for-Profit Organizations.
Metrics considered include awareness, marketing and technological innovation, segmentation, targeting and positioning, social impact, contribution to national development, public image, market success, customer service, ecological and ethical issues, and competitor orientation.
