China Jiangxi Corporation has returned to the site to resume work on the 50.3 km Nkwanta-Oti Damanko section of the Eastern Corridor Road, following successful negotiations with the government.
This project, which was initially awarded in 2011, had stalled due to non-payment to the contractor. However, it is now expected to be completed within 12 months.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza inspected the project and reiterated the government’s commitment to completing strategic road infrastructure. He assured the contractors that payments for the project would be prioritized.
Mr. Agbodza emphasized that once completed, the road will enhance economic growth by improving access to markets, reducing travel time, and boosting agricultural production and trade in the region.
