Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured Ghanaian farmers and stakeholders in agriculture that their welfare will be prioritized under a Bawumia-led government.
Speaking at Kejeji in the Sene East District of the Bono East Region during a campaign tour, Dr. Prempeh, also known as ‘Napo,’ emphasized that agribusinesses would flourish under Dr. Bawumia’s presidency with policies aimed at enhancing the sector.
“The potential for expanding and creating thousands of new jobs in agribusiness in response to the opportunities in food security and food exports, including in AgriTech, is significant,” he noted.
Napo highlighted that the administration plans to make substantial investments in areas such as agricultural research, food production, preservation, and value-addition and create agricultural enclaves in each region through private-sector collaboration.
“We shall also redirect Development Bank Ghana (DBG) to expand its financing and guarantee lines, especially through the proposed SME Bank,” Napo added, stressing the need to support value-added agricultural industries and boost agro-industrial growth.
