Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, continued his campaign tour of the Volta Region on Wednesday. He visited the constituencies of Ketu North, Ketu South, Akatsi South, and Central Tongu.
While addressing enthusiastic supporters, Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the agricultural sector if he is elected president in the upcoming December elections.
Highlighting the central role of agriculture in Ghana’s economy, he emphasized that his presidency would prioritize agriculture, citing data that shows around 60% of Ghanaians are engaged in farming.
Dr. Bawumia assured the people that his administration would establish District Agric Mechanization Centres across the country to enhance farming efficiency and productivity.
Furthermore, he outlined plans to facilitate the establishment of area-specific factories that would add value to agricultural produce, reducing post-harvest losses and increasing revenue for farmers. These factories, he noted, would help prevent the common issue of surplus production going to waste and improve the livelihoods of rural communities.
