The Ghana Police Service says it has made progress in the investigation of the attacks on the Bepong Chiefs palace and police officers in Kwahu Bepong, in the Eastern Region.
Forty-six additional individuals have been arrested, complementing the initial detention of 25 persons connected to the assault making the total number of apprehended suspects seventy-one (71).
The coordinated attack on February 4, 2024, resulted in injuries to seven people, including five police officers.
In a statement, the police highlighted the restoration of security, law, and order in the Bepong township following the arrests.
The police emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice, assuring that all suspects, including those still evading capture, will face legal proceedings.
Among the apprehended, 40 individuals identified as having significant roles in the attacks, supported by evidence, have been detained to assist ongoing investigations.
