Ghana’s road to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations took a heavy blow on Tuesday, October 15, after a disappointing 2-0 loss to Sudan. The Black Stars, struggling in their qualifying campaign, were undone by two quick-fire goals in the second half on matchday four in Libya.
Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud pounced on a defensive scramble to put the Falcons of Jediane ahead in the 62nd minute. Just three minutes later, Mohamed Abdelrahman outmuscled Mohammed Salisu before firing past Lawrence Ati-Zigi to double Sudan’s lead.
Inaki Williams had a chance to pull one back, but his volley from Tariq Lamptey’s cross sailed wide. Despite a late push, Otto Addo’s men couldn’t find the net.
With just two points from four games, Ghana’s qualification hopes now rest on other results and winning their remaining matches against Niger and Angola in November. They sit third in Group F with two draws and two losses.
