The chosen theme, “75 Years of Excellence in Journalism: Honoring the Past, Embracing the Present, Shaping the Future,” reflects the GJA’s rich legacy and its enduring commitment to advancing the journalism profession.

Originally known as the African Press Association, the GJA has emerged as a prominent entity within the media landscape, making positive contributions to the country’s developmental journey.

As part of the anniversary festivities, a symposium on artificial intelligence (AI) has been organized for the youth, highlighting the association’s dedication to grooming the next generation of journalists amid technological advancements.

Sir Sam Jonah the current chancellor of the University of Cape Coast in his keynote address commended GJA members for their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering support in shaping the nation’s discourse and recording its history.

Reflecting on the association’s 75-year journey, Sir Sam Jonah acknowledged the growing polarization in the media landscape, emphasizing the crucial role of upholding journalistic integrity and truth in countering divisive narratives.

As Ghanaian journalists commemorate this significant anniversary, Sir Sam Jonah urged them to reaffirm their commitment to truth, integrity, and accountability, ensuring that journalism remains a beacon of hope and a bastion of democracy in the nation.
