Prior to Ghana’s eagerly awaited 2024 Presidential Election, a fresh survey carried out by Global Info Analytics has stirred up debate. The results indicate a notable advantage for John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
However, the campaign team of the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, has swiftly downplayed the survey results, raising questions about its methodology and credibility.
The survey, released by Global Info Analytics, purportedly indicates that John Mahama has secured a substantial lead in all three critical swing regions: Greater Accra, Central, and Western regions. According to the poll, John Mahama commands 54.3% of the vote, followed by Dr. Bawumia at 34.9%, with other candidates trailing behind.
In the survey, John Mahama’s substantial leads in the swing regions are particularly noteworthy. He reportedly secures 63% of votes in the Western region, 73% in Greater Accra, and 51% in the Central Region. Such figures sharply contrast with Dr. Bawumia’s support, sparking concerns within the NPP camp.
In a press briefing held in Accra, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Dr. Bawumia campaign, asserted that the survey results do not accurately represent the prevailing sentiments on the ground.
He further remarked that the survey appears incomplete and fails to provide adequate insights into the electorate’s opinions, indicating deficiencies in its methodology and execution.
“There is not a single organisation that is an authority over electoral polling and we have about four to six of them that we work with and unfortunately this particular poll you referenced is one that we have never received the indices that they use.”
“We don’t have much that we can do about that particular one because it doesn’t tell much and looks scanty and really doesn’t tell of a polling that was done properly.”
