President John Dramani Mahama is set to host the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, for a three-day state visit to Ghana from April 8 to 10, 2025. This marks the first visit by a Czech president since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ghana and the former Czechoslovakia in October 1959. It also represents the first state visit hosted by President Mahama since his return to office in January 2025.
The visit underscores the deepening ties between Ghana and the Czech Republic. In recent years, both nations have engaged in high-level discussions to bolster cooperation in sectors such as business, investment, healthcare, and security.
During his stay, President Pavel is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Mahama, focusing on enhancing partnerships in various sectors. He will also address a business forum aimed at fostering trade and investment between the two countries. Additionally, President Pavel will inaugurate a Czech-funded health facility, reflecting the Czech Republic’s ongoing support for Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure. His itinerary includes visits to significant cultural sites such as Osu Castle and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. To honour the visiting head of state, President Mahama will host a state dinner.
This visit is anticipated to further solidify the longstanding relationship between Ghana and the Czech Republic, paving the way for increased collaboration and mutual benefits in the years to come.
