The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing Ghana’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.
In a meeting, GEA’s Chief Executive Officer, Margaret Ansei, engaged with the Chief Representative of JICA, Suzuki Momoko, and her delegation to discuss ongoing support and future initiatives.
The discussions focused on JICA’s continuous assistance to Ghana’s MSMEs, highlighting the positive economic impacts of their collaborative projects. A key focus was the Enterprise Development Project, which incorporates the Kaizen methodology- a Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement. This approach has been instrumental in transforming manufacturing practices for MSMEs in Ghana. Margeret Ansei formally requested an extension of this project to maximize its benefits.
The JICA delegation included Ms. Aizu Naho, Representative for Agriculture and Private Sector; Ms. Kaneko Kazuyo, Representative for Promoting AfCFTA/Trade Facilitation; Mr. Nakahashi Ichiro, Volunteer Coordinator; and Ms. Nana Adwoa Konadu Asiam, Program Specialist for Private Sector Development. Accompanying Margeret Ansei were her Deputy, Ms. Samira Abdul-Azeez; Mrs. Anthea Ohene Mayne, Greater Accra Regional Manager; Mrs. Mary Nkrumah Inusah, Senior Strategy Coordinator; and Ms. Juliana Adubofour, Senior Business Advisor.
This meeting underscores the ongoing collaboration between GEA and JICA, aiming to strengthen the MSME sector, which is vital for Ghana’s economic growth and development.
