The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has ordered the immediate recall of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte (Tetra Pak – 250ml and Canned – 330ml Pétillante) from the Ghanaian market, citing regulatory violations and safety concerns.
In a statement, the FDA said the products, which have been found in circulation and advertised on social media, are unregistered and their importation violates Sections 97, 98, and 103 of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851).
The authority also raised concerns over the packaging and size of the products, stating that they are “deceptive and misleading,” which could lead to accidental alcohol ingestion by children, posing a health and safety risk.
Consumers have been advised not to purchase or consume the products, while retailers and wholesalers have been directed to immediately halt sales and return all stock to Cave and Garden Ghana Limited or the FDA’s offices nationwide. The importer has been sanctioned, and regulatory measures are being enforced.
The FDA has urged the public to report any continued sale of the product through its official communication channels, reaffirming its commitment to protecting public health and safety.
