President John Dramani Mahama has criticized the previous administration over the management of the Agenda 111 hospital project, revealing that despite $400 million in expenditure, not a single facility is fully operational.
Addressing Parliament during his first State of the Nation Address in his second term on Tuesday, Mahama questioned the lack of tangible results from the government’s flagship healthcare initiative, which was launched to construct 111 hospitals nationwide.
“It is worth disclosing that $400 million has already been spent on the Agenda 111 project,” he said. “Yet, not a single hospital under this massive initiative is serving the people of Ghana.”
Mahama argued that with prudent financial management, the amount spent could have completed and fully operationalized at least 22 of the proposed hospitals. His remarks highlight concerns over project delays and financial accountability in Ghana’s health sector.
