The Ghana Police Service has outlined traffic management measures ahead of two major rallies by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), both scheduled for Thursday, December 5.

The NDC rally is set to take place at Zurak Park in Madina, while the NPP will host its event at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, December 4, police officials detailed plans to regulate traffic and ensure public safety. These measures include route diversions and a heightened police presence to prevent potential clashes between supporters of the two parties.

Traffic Diversion Details

For NPP Supporters:
– Travelers from Adenta will be redirected at Ritz Junction, passing through Aviation and UPSA before reaching Okponglo to access Legon.
– Supporters arriving from Dome will use the Haatso Junction route toward GIMPA and proceed to the University of Ghana.

For NDC Supporters:
– Those coming from the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange will turn right at Shiashie, proceed toward UPSA, and then turn left to join the Madina main road.
– Travelers from Dome will be redirected to take a left at KFC Junction on the Haatso Road, continue toward Wisconsin University, and proceed to Zongo Junction.

Additional Measures

To ease traffic around the NDC rally venue in Madina, a roadblock will be placed in front of Zurak Park. Police officers will be deployed along key routes to manage traffic flow and assist road users.

The police have also urged the leadership of both parties to ensure their supporters maintain discipline and avoid disruptive activities. A police spokesperson emphasized that public safety is the top priority and called for cooperation with law enforcement.

These traffic management measures aim to minimize inconvenience for road users and ensure peaceful rallies. The general public is advised to follow police directives and plan their movements accordingly.
