The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has deployed 100 Long-Term Observers (LTOs) across all 16 regions of Ghana to monitor the pre-election environment ahead of the December 7, 2024, presidential and parliamentary elections.
The observers will focus on constituency-level activities from October 1 to December 4, tracking the actions of key stakeholders such as the Electoral Commission, National Peace Council, political parties, and security agencies.
The LTOs will report on incidents like voter intimidation, violence, vote buying, and the use of inflammatory language at rallies.
They will also monitor for potential abuse of incumbency, destruction of property, and violations of election procedures.
CODEO has urged political parties to conduct responsible, issue-based campaigns and called on the Electoral Commission to ensure transparency throughout the electoral process.
Bi-weekly updates on the LTOs’ findings will be shared with the public and stakeholders leading up to election day.
