The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed confidence in the symbolism behind securing the eighth position on the ballot. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the NDC, noted that the number eight holds significance, representing a call for change after what he describes as eight years of mismanagement under the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“We came here asking for God’s perfect will to be done and we accept the number eight. After eight critical years of decay, the total lack of order, corruption and darkness that has engulfed this country, I think the eight is quite significant to tell the country that this is the moment to stop after the eight years,” Kwetey remarked during his media engagement.

While the NDC welcomed the outcome of the balloting, Kwetey did not shy away from criticizing the conduct of the NPP’s representatives, accusing them of trying to disrupt the process. He pointed out that their behavior reflected their general approach to governance, further reinforcing the NDC’s message of renewal and restoration.

“I’m satisfied in the respect that the whole country clearly saw that out of the very nine people who were present, one party, the NPP, decided to go against the agreement and do their own thing. The country will clearly know those interested in doing what is wrong and those who are interested in doing what is right for the sake of Ghana,” Kwetey stressed.

The NDC’s interpretation of their ballot position as a divine sign comes at a critical moment as the country approaches an election that both major parties see as pivotal.

As campaigns intensify, the number eight will feature prominently in the NDC’s narrative as they seek to end the NPP’s rule and restore what they call order and accountability in governance.
