In a recent post on X, Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), emphasized that the phrase “Bawumia means business” is not mere rhetoric, citing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s substantial contributions to public service as evidence of his capability to lead Ghana.
Mr Ahiagbah urged middle-class Ghanaians, professionals, and the business community to consider Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy, particularly for his commitment to enhancing healthcare nationwide. Drawing from his personal experiences with Ghana’s healthcare system, he expressed confidence in the vision outlined in Dr. Bawumia’s 2024 manifesto, which he believes will improve healthcare outcomes for all Ghanaians.
Mr. Ahiagbah outlined Dr. Bawumia’s comprehensive healthcare plan, which includes completing the Agenda 111 hospitals project to ensure that every district has a hospital, recruiting additional healthcare professionals with improved conditions of service, finalizing the digitization of public healthcare institutions under the E-health project, and expanding telehealth services. The plan also involves establishing two additional medical drone delivery sites at Funsi and Kintampo, ensuring the interoperability of the National Electronic Pharmacy Platform (NEPP) with both public and private healthcare facilities, providing incentives for healthcare workers to purchase vehicles with an engine capacity of up to 1,800cc, and enforcing compliance with the existing deprived area incentive package for health workers.
According to him, these initiatives will significantly improve healthcare outcomes across all districts in Ghana, reduce pressure on tertiary hospitals like Komfo Anokye, and address the ongoing issue of healthcare worker shortages. He emphasized the importance of recruiting and motivating health sector workers to prevent the exodus of professionals from the country, which he believes will lead to higher quality care for all Ghanaians.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Ahiagbah urged all health sector workers and the broader Ghanaian electorate to vote for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming election, stating, “Health is wealth, and Dr. Bawumia is committed to prioritizing the health of Ghanaians.”
The NPP’s communications director reinforced that a vote for Bawumia is a vote for quality, accessible, and improved healthcare outcomes for all Ghanaians.
