The Black Stars of Ghana beat Mali 2-1 in a thrilling 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako.
Mali took the lead just the stroke of halftime through Kamoury Doumbia. Ghana equalized in the 58th minute through a header from Ernest Nuamah. Ghana regained the lead in the 94th minute through a goal from Crystal Palace star man Jordan Ayew.
Mali gave a good account of themselves, but they were unable to find a way past the Ghana defense in the second half. Ghana’s victory is a major boost to their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup. They now have six points from three matches, which puts them in a strong position in Group I.
Mali, on the other hand, are now third with 4points from three matches. They will need to improve their performances if they want to qualify for the World Cup.
The victory give the Black Stars confidence ahead of their next match against the Central African Republic on Monday.
