This year, the theme “Education Fit for the 21st Century” underscores the importance of education as the cornerstone for individual success and a prosperous Africa.

The AU calls on all stakeholders across various sectors to join in this transformative journey to reshape the educational landscape.

In an interview with RGGNEWS, international relations analyst Blaise Konlan looked at the African Union’s (AU) effectiveness, stating that while the AU has contributed to some development within its member states, it has not fully served its purpose.

Blaise Konlan emphasized that the organization’s strength depends on the collaboration and commitment of all its members.

He highlighted the importance of the AU focusing on the economic liberation and status of its member countries. Mr Konlan urged the AU to prioritize trade and economic development, noting that the continent’s significant population and market potential remain underutilized due to insufficient attention from African leaders.

He says it is necessary for the AU to work towards achieving Agenda 2063, Africa’s blueprint and master plan for transforming the continent into a global powerhouse.

The plan for Agenda 2063 is for inclusive and sustainable development, unity, self-determination, freedom, progress, and collective prosperity under the principles of Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.

He concluded by wishing all Ghanaians a happy AU Day and urging the nation to actively contribute to the development of the AU as a member state.
